Dance gives space for feeling, and through this feeling an inner place of freedom may open. From this opening, we may find a way to our unique agency.

Approach

Somatics is a body awareness practice rooted in diverse cultural lineages, spiritual traditions, and movement disciplines. Through breath, movement, and soft attention, we become present to our inner sensations. Rather than thinking about the body, we learn to experience from the body, grounding into ourselves and the present moment.

Somatic

We begin with body awareness: sensing, breathing, moving, and listening to what is present. Somatic awareness offers another way of knowing ourselves, one that can unfold beyond words and through sensation, movement, and pleasure.

Relational

This space invites curiosity and compassion into our relationship with our self, and others.

Agency-centered

We explore your capacity to sense, choose, express, and act. Dance creates a space to experience agency in the body, to discover that you can move, change direction, take space, set boundaries, connect, and create.

Contextual &
Historical

We are shaped by the worlds we belong to. Personal experiences are connected to family histories, culture, society, and our environment.

What happens in a session

Each cycle of sessions are focused on a different topic, but generally the guided somatic dance follows these different stages:

1. Grounding

Returning to breath, and to the earth as a support beneath you.

2. Sensing

Coming into the senses, slowly landing in the here and now.

3. Exploring

Listening to the body through movement propositions.

4. Expressing

Embodying your own stories and present emotions, with care.

5. Resting

Allowing time to rest and let the experience settle.

Who is this for?

This space is open to everyone, regardless of background or prior experience. It is for anyone seeking to slow down, reconnect with their body, and move through the world with more presence. Whether you are looking to process emotions, nourish your creativity, or simply find a supportive community practice, no background in dance or somatics is required, just a curiosity to listen inward.

Questions

Do I need any dance or movement experience?

No. These sessions are open to all bodies, whether you have danced for years or never at all. We follow what is present, at your pace.

What should I wear to a session?

Wear comfortable clothes you can move in easily. You may be invited to work without shoes.

What if I have physical limitations, chronic pain, or injuries?

We adapt the work to your body. Share any limitations, pain, or injuries beforehand so we can move with care and find what is possible for you.

Where do sessions take place, and are the studios accessible?

Sessions take place in a studio in the 11th arrondissement in Paris. Please get in touch with any accessibility needs so we can find a suitable arrangement.

How does a session differ from a traditional talk therapy session?

We work through the body as well as through words, movement, sensation, and dialogue, rather than sitting and speaking only.
